I created this piece shortly after the protests for women's rights that were held throughout the US in 2021. For the duration of these protests, as well as before and after, The Satanic Temple fought ruthlessly along with women for not only abortion rights, but also overall equality. I wished to use this piece to represent what the temple has done to support an equal and just society for centuries. Using the ouija board and bones to bring to light those who have been lost due to unsafe abortions, I hoped to show the harm that keeping this hostile version of society can cause. I also purposefully left the newspapers blurry to show how there is so much going on constantly in the media that sometimes it becomes impossible to process any of it; as well as the candles on top signify an attempt to cleanse all of the negativity being spread.
